Nothing Original Here

For a long time I hesitated about starting a blog, and a website, and a coaching business for one main reason: I wasn’t original. Everything I have to offer, I have learned from others. I argued with myself about what possibly made me think I was qualified to support others. After all, there are experts out there in each of Joyspiration’s focus areas. Wouldn’t it be best to go straight to them?
Slowly, I began to realize though, that nothing is a straight line in life. Even when I go straight to “the expert” on a topic there are interpretations, applications, perceptions that are unique to me. There is a need to chew on the information from this expert with others, to unpack it and get feedback on how it might apply to my unique needs.
I also know that the more tools I have in my toolbox, the better equipped I am to do this work. I can integrate the information from many experts and customize them to best suit me. And I have been collecting tools for a long time.
I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology, a master’s degree in education, a doctorate in executive leadership. I am certified to teach, to lead, and to facilitate wellness circles. But what makes me most uniquely qualified to do this work is that nothing is original. I have a multitude of tools at my disposal rather than one approach to something that I have to try to make fit with everyone. I have an endless supply of experts that I continue to learn from and incorporate into my resources. I remain a learner first.
And with you, we become a community, which may be the best part of all of this.
Together, we can begin to rebuild the lost art of conversation, storytelling, and community that is so vital to our understanding of others, of our own lives, and of the world we live in.
Please consider joining one of our wellness circles or book studies. They are borrowed from some of the best!
